WBKB Whitehaven Bare Knuckle Boxing: The Pinnacle of Combat Sports in the North of England!

Kevin Thompson

A former pro MMA fighter at LHW who retired as a 4 x British and 2 x European champion with a record of 14-7 notable opponents included ex ufc world heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez and Current Bellator HW linton vassell

After a break from combat sports Kevin got itchy feet wanting to compete again and in 2017 was offered the chance to fight for the BKBtm title at 3 days notice v Goran Reljic the ex ufc fighter and lost via doctor stoppage going into round 3

Undettered he got offered another shot at the title this time against rising star Mason Shaw and despite being the underdog won via Rd 3 TKO to become the BKBtm Cruiserweight champion on a night he made history by becoming the first fighter to legally fight in wraps that exposed the knuckles

Having achieved his goal in the sport he looked to move onto his next challenge and it was there that the idea of creating a BKB promotion where his beliefs and high standards could be implemented was created with the formation of WBKB and in 2023 the show was launched and continues to go from strength to strength

Pete Gilmour AKA Gilly

Peter Gilmour, known as “Gilly,” has made a significant impact in the world of combat sports, transitioning from white-collar boxing to becoming a key figure in Bare Knuckle Boxing World. His journey began in the white-collar boxing scene, where he not only fought but also helped promote the “Clash of the Titans” fight show, successfully organizing nearly 20 events. These experiences honed his skills as both a fighter and a promoter, laying the foundation for his future endeavour’s.

In 2017, Gilly was asked to manage Kev Thompson’s BKB career, a pivotal moment that deepened his involvement in the sport. Under Gilly’s management, Thompson secured major fights on the BKBtm platform, going up against formidable opponents like Goran Reljic and Mason Shaw. It was during this time that Gilly and Thompson, captivated by the raw, brutal nature of BKB, conceived the idea for WBKB (Whitehaven Bare Knuckle Boxing).

Though their plans were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Gilly’s determination never wavered. After the pandemic, they finally launched WBKB, realizing their vision and contributing to the growing popularity of Bare Knuckle Boxing. Gilly’s journey reflects his passion, resilience, and commitment to the sport.
