Jimmy Wilson, a proud native of Carlisle, found his way into fighting as a way to channel his anger and stay out of trouble. As a young man, he often got caught up in street fights, but joining the army turned his focus toward boxing. It was there that he discovered a deep love for the sport, and after participating in a charity boxing match, Jimmy became dedicated to getting as much time in the ring as possible.
Moving around a lot didn’t stop him from training. He made it a point to hit up local gyms wherever he was and put in the work on his own, always striving to improve. After competing in a few unlicensed boxing bouts, he took the leap into bare-knuckle boxing—something he’d always wanted to try. While he admits he’s not the most technical fighter, Jimmy makes up for it with an unbreakable spirit and relentless determination.

John ‘aka Hoppy’ Hopkins
John “aka Hoppy” Hopkins had a tough upbringing, marked by challenges that many would find hard to overcome. In his younger days, he found solace in boxing, but life took a different turn as he got caught up in a lifestyle of drugs, theft, and violence. Despite this, at the age of 29, the birth of his first child gave him a new sense of responsibility, though it wasn’t an immediate escape from the hardships that had become a part of his life.
It wasn’t until after the birth of his second child at 35 that John decided to return to the ring. Initially training with Julian Loftus in MMA, he later moved on to train under Marc Navarro before his mentor relocated. Though life continued to throw challenges his way, including run-ins with the law and struggles with addiction, John’s love for fighting never waned.
At 39, John decided it was time to take control of his life. Inspired by fighters like Danny Christie, Decca Heggie, Dan Larwell, and others who had battled through their own hardships, John saw a path forward. He began training with renewed focus, finding that the discipline of the gym and the structure of combat sports helped him manage his mental health struggles, including OCD, ADHD, stress, anxiety, and bouts of depression.
John’s passion for Bare Knuckle Boxing ignited as he attended various Bare Knuckle shows, meeting and mingling with fighters who had risen from similar tough backgrounds. His son, who shares his father’s love for the sport, became a driving force in his journey, especially after forming a bond with fighter Dan Larwell, who advocates for Autism and ADHD—conditions his son lives with.
Training with former fighters, pro boxers, and kickboxers, John honed his skills, driven by a desire not just to participate but to excel in the sport. His ambition isn’t just about personal glory; it’s about proving to himself, his family, and friends that he has what it takes to succeed. John is not only fighting for victories but for a better life, channelling the negativity of his past into a positive outlet through Bare Knuckle.
John believes that combat sports offer more than just physical battles; they provide a structured environment to channel aggression and focus, helping to keep individuals off the streets and away from a life of crime. For him, stepping into the ring is more than just about winning—it’s about the rush, the camaraderie, and the respect that comes with the sport. He understands the risks involved, but for John, the benefits far outweigh them.
Coming from a family of boxing champions, including the Fureys, John feels a deep connection to the sport. While age may be catching up, he remains determined to make the most of the years he has left in Bare Knuckle. His goal is to climb the ranks, test his limits, and perhaps one day become a champion. Whether he wins, loses, or draws, the buzz of the fight and the pride of giving it his all drives him forward.
John “Hoppy” Hopkins is ready to take on any man put in front of him, bringing his hard-earned wisdom, fighting spirit, and respect to the ring. For him, Bare Knuckle is more than just a sport—it’s a way of life, a means of redemption, and a chance to show the world what he’s truly made of.

Originally known as the class clown of Workington, Cumbria, Martin was more likely to be found cracking jokes than trading punches. However, a profound personal revelation in 2019—one that he attributes to an ancestral warrior awakening—set him on an unexpected path.
Initially training alone in his garage, Martin soon made a name for himself in the boxing ring, compiling a record of 10 bouts. His potential caught the eye of Dave Straughton, a seasoned fighter and trainer, who saw something special in Martin. Under Straughton’s guidance, Martin transitioned into bare-knuckle fighting, where he has since secured two victories by TKO.
Martin’s motivations are deeply personal; he isn’t driven by titles or accolades. Instead, his focus is on honouring his ancestral legacy, protecting the vulnerable, and embodying the principles of old-school gentlemen like John Wayne. With a fierce determination to uphold these values, Martin aims to make his mark in the ring and earn a place at the great table in the afterlife
